Barmulloch

99 Rockfield Road, Barmulloch, Glasgow, G21 3DY

Flying Start Nursery, located in the heart of Barmulloch, Glasgow, proudly opened its doors in April 2015. The nursery occupies a beautifully renovated former library building, which has been thoughtfully refurbished to a high standard to create an environment that supports the diverse developmental needs of children. We are committed to providing a nurturing, inclusive, and friendly atmosphere where every child feels safe, valued, and inspired to learn.

Our nursery is surrounded by secure, purpose-built gardens that offer a stimulating outdoor learning environment. These gardens feature a variety of child-friendly elements, including raised flower beds, sand pits, and mixed-surface play areas designed to support physical development and imaginative play across all age groups. Flexible garden zoning allows us to create designated areas for younger children, giving them a sense of independence while still feeling connected to the wider nursery community.

Indoors, the nursery is bright, spacious, and inviting to our children and families. The environment promotes a sense of calm and happiness, with carefully curated spaces that encourage exploration, creativity, and positive social interactions.

Flying Start Nursery is registered with the Care Inspectorate to care for up to 36 children. Our childcare provision is built around strong partnerships with families, ensuring that parents and carers are actively involved in shaping their child’s early learning experience. We pride ourselves on open communication and collaborative working relationships with all families.

Our greatest strength lies in our dedicated and professional staff team. Every member of our team is registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) as a qualified Childcare Practitioner and is a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. Their commitment to continuous professional learning, combined with their genuine passion for early year’s education, ensures that every child in our care receives the highest quality of support and learning opportunities.

Learning

At Flying Start Nursery, we are deeply committed to providing high-quality, play-based learning experiences that nurture every child’s development and help lay strong foundations for lifelong learning. Our curriculum is carefully designed to ensure that literacy and numeracy are central to all areas of play and learning, in line with our Lead Practitioner of Attainment funded by Glasgow City Council. Through targeted, inclusive practice, we aim to bridge the attainment gap and support all children—regardless of background or starting point—to achieve their full potential.
