Key Information

We understand that your work commitments often don’t fit into neat half day sessions. If our session times don’t suit, please speak to the Nursery Manager who will do what they can to offer a level of flexibility to accommodate your family’s individual needs.

Funded and non-funded places

We work in partnership with Glasgow City Council to provide funded places for eligible 2’s and children aged 3yrs until they go to school.  There is no charge for a funded only place.

You may wish to top up your free hours. This is quite common and can be arranged through our nursery manager.

Non funded children are very welcome at Flying Start Nursery.  We can offer half day sessions as well as full day sessions. Please contact the nursery for more details.

Meals & Snacks

Children at our nursery lead active and engaging lives throughout their day, participating in a wide range of stimulating activities that support their physical, cognitive, and emotional development. To fuel this high level of energy and concentration, nutritional care is a key part of our daily routine.

We are part of the ‘Scottish Milk and Healthy Snack Scheme’.

Healthy snacks are provided in both of our AM and PM sessions.  These include fresh fruit and vegetables with milk or water to drink. Drinks are freely available to all children throughout the session. A copy of the full snack menu is available within each nursery.

All funded children are entitled to have a meal at nursery, provided free of charge.  We buy the meals in from Breadwinners Nursery Catering, taking account of individual dietary and allergy requirements. There is a three week rolling menu which is changed seasonally.

Staff: Children Ratios

2:3 years = 1:5

3:5 years = 1:8

Outings

Children at our nursery regularly engage in meaningful outings within the local community, including visits to nearby parks and woodlands for nature trails, trips to the library to select books, and visits to local shops to take part in real-life 'buying experiences'. For our more adventurous learners, excursions may also include exploring the wider area using public transport such as buses and trains.

These hands-on, experiential learning opportunities support development across all areas, cognitive, social, emotional, and physical. By connecting learning to the real world, we help children build lasting knowledge, confidence, and life skills that will support them as they grow into the capable and curious adults of tomorrow.
